SUDUR PATHSHALA V O. 1
During the period of Covid 19, it was first felt that the meritorious but poor students living in rural Bengal were deprived of learning subjects, as all schools remained closed for more than two years. At this backdrop, SEVAA first thought of opening e- classes for them. Nearly 26 schools were taken in the loop and the HMs were requested to send names of eligible students. Thus Sudur Pathshala Version 0.1 was started with eligible students of 26 schools from 13 Districts. Every evening except Sunday, Pathshala bell would start ringing. From 6.30 pm to 9 pm this period was devided into three classes. Almost 28 teachers worked sincerely to run the classes.
However with the opening of schools in 2022, the necessity of Sudur Pathshala Version 0.1 ended.
Pilot project on Sudur Pathshala of different kind:
In 2023, a new possibility of Sudur Pathshala was felt. It has been seen that in many schools, specially at rural areas, there is no subject teacher due to vacancy of teachers. These vacancies could not be filled up due to some difficulties in teacher recruitment in the whole of West Bengal. As a result some schools running without subject teacher. This was first felt in the projected Girls High School whose only Maths teacher had retired three years ago. Till that, the school is running eithout teacher. The said school was given a efficient SMART Room and the proposed classes were held. It was a two way communication and both the teacher and students could participate easily and comfortably. It was also understood that different schools with deficiency of teacher of the same subject may be taken under one umbrella and the service can be provided in a broader perspective.
Sudur Pathshala Version 0.2 :
SEVAA made contact with different Schools having no subject teacher. At first in two subjects the classes could be started. It was Maths and Life Sc. From class 9 to 12, all the classes are being conducted during school hour within the arranged time schedule. Almost 10 schools have consented and joined this programme.
